 Do you feel
empty inside?

Everyone can experience feelings of emptiness at times.  There have been many times when people have become Christians, they say that before having God in their life, they felt so empty inside.  They did not understand why they felt empty or even depressed, but it was like something was missing in their life.  Some did things to occupy their time to try to mask the emptiness: shopping, eating, hanging out with friends, going to see a movie, taking trips.  Others felt like doing the opposite and other than going to work (because they had no choice), they would rather be away from people and just find a spot to curl up in and hide away.  Day after day, though, both felt a dark emptiness inside, hopeless, with nothing really mattering to them.

But then….God.  The sense of emptiness will not go away until a person chooses to come to Christ.  God sees emptiness as a great opportunity! Do you know what God does with “empty”? He fills it! What does he fill it with? Himself!  We were created for God’s glory, to honor and glorify Him.  Having a life separate from God (meaning not having God in your life) will show a person how empty this world can actually be, but having a life WITH God can bring your life purpose and peace.

King Solomon was King David’s son, both kings of Israel.  Solomon had everything anyone could hope for: wealth, riches, wisdom and honor.  In Ecclesiastes 6:6 (TLB), he wrote, “Though a man lives a thousand years twice over, but does not find contentment—well, what’s the use?”  Remember this man was a king who had everything he could ever want, and his point was that a life without God or a life that was not centered around God was basically meaningless, pointless and empty.

What happens when we let God invade and fill our emptiness? Jesus came to fulfil the prophecies and he died for our sins. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I have come so that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Let us read that again, “I have come so that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Jesus wants us to have an abundant life.  Jesus wants to be our Savior and fill our hearts with himself and his love.  With Jesus in your heart, things will not be perfect by any means, life is always going to be difficult, but you will have a shoulder to lean on, a person to talk to in prayer whose love surpasses all understanding.  Praying, reading the Bible, and going to church can fill you in a way you would never expect.  So let God invade your emptiness and fill you with the fullness of Himself! You will never regret it!

If you would like to become a Christian and follow Jesus, just say this prayer:

Salvation Prayer:  Dear Lord, I know that I am a sinner.  I ask that you forgive me for my sins.  I believe that Jesus is your son, and that you sent him to die on the cross for my sins, and that he was resurrected and is alive today!  I want Jesus to come into my heart and into my life.  I pray that you change me.  I want to become the person you would have me to be and live a life pleasing to you, a life that is no longer empty but is filled with your fullness.  I want you to be the center of my life.  I thank you for saving me and for answering this prayer.  In Jesus' name, Amen!
